(Financial Management Certificate Program Course I)
The course is an introduction to the world of financial accounting. It introduces the study of accounting principles to give an understanding of the theory and logic that underlie procedures and practices. The objective is to enable the participant to get acquainted with the mechanics of financial accounting and how a company keeps track of its operations using the set of reporting tools, both in the form of day to day accounting books and end-of-period financial statements.
Major topics include the accounting cycle, recording entries and the purpose and use of accounting books, the nature and implications of fundamental accounting principles and concepts, accounting for cash, inventories and capital, drawing up trial balances and financial statements.
